Asking Questions

Every now and then I need to remind myself that I can just ask and save myself a lot of unnecessary trouble.

I want to do this thing, but I don’t know how to get started.

Is there anyone you can ask?

Yes, but they may not respond.

Then you can ask someone else.

But I don’t wanna feel embarrassed.

At worst, they won’t respond. At best, you’ll get your answer.

What if I spend some time on my own and look for answers?

Great. But if you can’t find it, then just ask. People generally like helping others. You like helping people. It feels good to be helpful and see others achieve something. It makes our existence meaningful.

I found the answer!

If possible, share it with others. Or write it down somewhere for yourself, in case someone asks you the same question later. Maybe you’ll receive an email. Maybe it’ll come up when you’re in the middle of a conversation. Maybe that person will be you a year from now, when you’ve forgotten what you learned today.

The more you do this, the easier it gets.
